Mama Buci Honey is a new import for us. The honey is cooperatively harvested in Zambia and the Summer harvest is light amber and has a floral taste with hints of aniseed and fennel.
Mama Buci ("Mother Honey" in the Bemba dialect) is the largest independent honey producer in Africa - they produce two ethically sourced varieties of raw honey, Winter and Summer, each with its own unique flavor profile as determined by the active flora at the time of harvest. Established in 2008, Mama Buci works in many towns and villages of Zambia, using a co-op system to compensate fairly those who watch the hives in exchange for a share of the honey.
