- Raw Licorice Roots: The Greek name for licorice is 'Glycyrrhiza glabra', which means 'the sweet root'. This name is no understatement, because in its natural state the licorice root is 30-50 times sweeter than plain sugar. We gather our fine licorice roots from Italy, Afghanistan and the Middle East.

- Salmaik: Salmiak is a unique ingredient, especially used with licorice in the Nordic countries. It has a sour and salty taste compared to regular salt which has a sweet and salty taste.

This is great licorice with just the right level of saltiness. However I wonder how many realize that it costs $19.68 per pound which includes shipping?

I am a lover of fine black licorice... I found this product at my normal licorice-only online store and liked everything about it except the high price, and therefore was pleased to find it here at a more reasonable price. If you've tried salt licorice and don't like it, then you aren't likely to enjoy this, but you are decidedly in the salt-licorice camp, definitely order a jar of this excellent licorice.
