NYC Communities
Our NYC Communities gift includes delicious products produced by local BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)-owned companies. The items are packed in decorative boxes that feature charming vignettes of the city by NYC-based illustrator Michael Storrings.
Inside these NYC-themed gift boxes, we pack the following:
Mustache Munchies: Green Mustache is a Brooklyn-based, woman- and AAPI-owned company focused on creating innovative, tasty plant-based snacks. Everything they do stem from their commitment to plant-based living because they believe the food we eat should both feel good and BE good—for us and the world. To further that goal, they strive to have zero food waste by donating imperfect pieces from the production process to local farmers who use their scraps as animal feed.
Mariebelle Hot Chocolate: Maribel Lieberman founded MarieBelle New York. From her first chocolate shop in Soho, Maribel's passion for creating new flavors and beautiful presentations continues to evolve.
Sol Cacao Chocolate Bar: The Maloney brothers, Dominic, Nicholas, and Daniel, strive to create the finest quality of chocolate based on their familiarity with the cacao trees in their native Trinidad and Tobago. Now based in the Bronx, Sol Cacao: Craft Chocolate is the only 100% black-owned bean-to-bar-chocolate company in New York.
Greyston Bakery Brownies: For 38 years, Greyston has opened its doors in Yonkers to people who had faced rejection from the workforce; when people demonstrate a willingness to work, the company gives them a chance. No questions asked, no resumes, no interviews, and no background checks. By replacing scrutiny with trust (the company doesn't require résumés, interviews, or background checks), Greyston transforms lives and communities with the intent of breaking the cycle of poverty.
Eleni's Cookies: These cookies are NYC originals. Eleni has been making her cookies for a while she was one of the original tenets of Chelsea Market when it opened in 1997. Her cookies business has grown and now has a wide following. The cookies are delightfully crispy and are great-looking before taking your first bite.
Dona Chai: Made in Brooklyn, this masala chai can be combined with steamed milk or water to create a delicious tea-like drink. Dona blends loose-leaf tea with various spices, including cinnamon, cardamon, and more, to create this concentrate. Brewed in small batches, Dona has created a product with a large following throughout the US.
This curated collection of local foods is sure to be well received by people interested in small and unusual producers creating innovative products.
